Storage footprint

Measured by the installer to size the root partition.

· Install

Two ways in.

01 // ISO

Fresh disk

Boot an ISO and the guided installer partitions, installs, and wires the desktop. Both install offline: plain Arch, or CachyOS with its kernel baked in.

02 // SHELL

Convert in place

One command turns an existing Arch machine into Ryoku: config backup, repo trust, desktop set. Reversible with a generated restore script.

Check it before you boot it.

Every image is signed by Ryoku Releases <releases@ryoku.dev> and published with its signature and checksum. Three commands prove the file on your disk is the one we built. About a minute.

  1. 01Import the release key

    Pulls our release public key into your GPG keyring.

  2. 02Confirm the fingerprint

    A signature only counts once you know the key is ours.

    Must printgpg groups it in fours. Every character must match.
  3. 03Verify the image

    Run it where you saved the ISO, its .sig and its .sha256.

What good looks like

And what it doesn't

gpg also warns the key is not certified with a trusted signature. That is normal: it only means you never personally signed it. But without Good signature and OK, the file is not ours. Delete it, do not boot it.

What is Ryoku?

Ryoku is a hand-built Arch Linux distribution with a complete, pre-configured Hyprland (Wayland) desktop. It ships the desktop, a guided installer, and the system that reproduces it from one source of truth.

Yes, and it is its own project, not a fork. You get the same opinionated, keyboard-driven, pre-riced Arch and Hyprland spirit, built from the ground up with its own Quickshell desktop, a control center, and a reproducible single-source system.

How do I install Ryoku?

Boot the signed Ryoku ISO and the guided installer partitions the disk, installs the desktop, and reboots you into Hyprland. Already on Arch? One reversible command converts a machine in place.

What hardware does Ryoku need?

Modern 64-bit (x86-64) AMD, Intel, or NVIDIA hardware; the installer detects your GPU and displays automatically. 16 GB of RAM is comfortable, and you can try it in a virtual machine first.

How do I update or roll back Ryoku?

Run ryoku update: it snapshots the system, updates from the signed package repository, and reloads the desktop. If an update ever misbehaves, ryoku rollback restores the previous state.
